How do I return my Vote-by-Mail kit once I’ve completed my ballot?
Your Vote-by-Mail kit must be returned to Elections NL headquarters (Suite 100, 24 Stavanger Drive, St. John’s) by Saturday, October 11 at 4 p.m. If you require assistance returning your kit, call 1-877-729-7987.
DO NOT put your Vote-by-Mail kit in a mailbox, as it will not be delivered to us during the postal worker strike.
Remember, it is your responsibility to meet all established deadlines.
I requested a Vote-By-Mail kit but I want to vote in-person. Can I still vote at the polls?
The deadline to cancel a Vote-By-Mail kit has now passed.
Your kit will be delivered by alternative service. You can complete your kit and return to your local office or Elections NL headquarters.

If you have chosen to have your Vote-by-Mail kit delivered by alternative service, you are responsible for returning to Elections NL by the established deadlines.
You can choose to return the kit to any of the 70+ offices, or by the delivery service of your choice. You may also contact your nearest office to schedule a pickup if available.
I submitted a request to vote-by-mail before the postal worker strike. What do I do now?
If you submitted a request before the postal strike began, Elections NL has attempted to contact you using the contact information provided to confirm your voting preference.
If you canceled your kit, you may vote on regular polling day (October 14 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., half an hour earlier in most of Labrador).
The deadline to cancel your Vote-By-Mail kit has passed. If we did not hear from you, your kit has now been sent via alternative courier service.
I live in a remote community, how can I vote?
In-person voting is available on Election day (October 14).

If the strike ends, and I receive my previously ordered vote-by-mail ballot, what do I do?
Elections NL’s secure Elections Management System only allows voters to cast one ballot. If you cancelled your request for a Vote-By-Mail ballot, and voted in person or via an alternative method, you can destroy your ballot kit.
If you requested a ballot to be delivered by alternative service, you can use the Vote-by-Mail kit and return to your nearest Elections NL office or to headquarters.

Alternative delivery services are in the process of delivering ballots. Once received, you are responsible to return the kit to any Elections NL office in the province.

You may choose to deliver your kit to your nearest Elections NL District Returning Office or to Elections NL headquarters. If you use a courier service, the cost will depend on your location and the service you use to return your kit. You are responsible for meeting established deadlines.
What do I need to do to be reimbursed for returning my Vote-by-Mail kit?
Send a photo of your receipt to electionfinance@electionsnl.ca. When we have confirmed receipt of your ballot we may contact you for additional information to process your reimbursement.
How long will it take to receive my reimbursement?
Once Elections NL has received a photo of your receipt and confirmed receipt of your ballot, we will begin processing your reimbursement.
What courier services will be reimbursed? Is there a maximum amount that will be reimbursed?
Elections NL recognizes that not all providers operate in all areas of all provinces.
Electors must choose a courier able to return their Vote-by-Mail kit by Saturday, October 11 at 4 p.m. Costs will be reimbursed once the ballot is received. Electors are responsible for meeting vote-by-mail deadlines.
Any courier charges incurred after October 10, 2025, will not be eligible for reimbursement.

How will reimbursements be issued?
Voters residing outside of Newfoundland and Labrador will be reimbursed for the cost of returning their ballots by cheque once the ballot has been received by Elections NL.
How will I know if my ballot has made it back to Elections NL?
Use the tracking information provided by the delivery service.
What if the courier doesn’t get the parcel to Elections NL in time?
It is important to choose a courier who can meet the delivery deadlines. If the courier is unable to meet this requirement, they would be responsible for reimbursing the voter for a delayed parcel.
I returned by Vote-by-Mail kit before reimbursement was announced. Will I still be reimbursed?
